Rant - selling on Springbank

What I want to know primarily is how he got that space... Is he squatting? And yes it is an absolute eyesore and on more than one occassion I have seen small children running in the road and sometimes they have hybrid vehicles to play on, like a cross bicycle / wheelbarrow I saw before.. anyhow.

I think if it is a front for something I wouldn't want to know what they might otherwise be doing but I have never seen customers buying stuff and have looked and certainly would not want to buy any of the goods on sale, most of the time there are just vehicles sometimes with people just sitting in there..

good builder wanted

I've been using John 07787796149 for about ten years....he is based in Forest Hill but works all over London, he has practically done everything in my house....kitchen and bathroom refurb, roof, redecorated rooms, erected fence , replaced radiators etc etc and got rid of the mice!

If you get to Lee Manor Society Plant Mart, please try and get to the Community Gardens too, is also on Micheldever Road and they've done such a lot of work!

More gardening activities this weekend. Get great plants for free, just take something from your own garden to swap!

Just wanted to let you all know that a few weeks ago I put up a post asking for recommendations for a photographer to take some shots of my husband and I and our new baby daughter. I ended up using a bloke called Joe Atwere who I cannot recommend highly enough. He is a local guy with kids of his own and has just started his photography business. His shots are candid not cheesy and his relaxed manner made for a very easy shoot. Also his prices are about half of what I was quoted by some snotty photographers! Hi Helena,

I don't have one, but - silly question I know - have you actually got a masonry bit for the drill? They have a sort of wing on the tip and are capable of drilling into bricks rather than the softer, internal walls.

It was probably 3 days old & on its last legs! Wot me, cynical?! (On the other hand, it may just have been a nice gesture, lucky you.)

I just walked past the café today, and they have repainted it a charming (?) shade of rust red! With CAFE OPEN in very large letters on the front. They've also got rid of all the weeds that were growing on the roof.

Manor Park planning application

If you would like to proactively help in the council's process of ensuring derelict properties, including 82 Manor park, are brought back into use, you can send a motivation letter to nick.long@lewisham.gov.uk, giving the reasons why you believe something needs to be done. The more the merrier - I know my entire house will. The sooner these places are fixed up the better it will be for all of us.

By the way I had trouble finding this thread because it doesn't mention the number in the title. Just add it back - how are we supposed to know WHICH planning application and property it refers to. Grow some balls and do the right thing.

1. John Lewis moses basket with stand plus mattress and 3 mattress covers. £40

2. Electric double pump expresser- the make and model is Ameda Lactaline Personal- new £90 will sell for £40

3. Baby Bjorn carrier - 8lb to 11lb, black; new £70 will sell for £35 (only been used 4 times!)

All items are in mint condition, have been hardly used, my daughter now 1 month old and I no longer need the items. Please personal message me for photos which I will gladly send or am happy to show items first to buyers.

Hi

We are doing a street party on Kellerton Road on Saturday 2nd. We've haven't had one before (well not since I've lived on the road) but have got lots of tips from the residents of Chalcroft Road who have held a few. Best tips so far:

For eating, get people to bring picnic tables and set up cafe style rather than trying to have one long table. Means you're not trying to source lots of long tables. Have food buffet style in one area. Get one side of street to bring savoury dishes and other side sweet. Collect kitty to pay for public liability insurance & BBQ food. Have BBQ in someone's front garden so away from kids & a bar in another garden. Keep an area of road free for kids to play football, scooter etc. Leaflet cars two or three times so that people have moved them in time.

fairyrobot - I am going through with appeal for a couple of schools.

Ideally you have to be able to prove that a mistake has been made in applying the admissions critera and that the code of practice was not followed correctly. You can appeal on the grounds that the decision the auhority made was unreasonable but this has to be based on the facts of the case available to them at the time of making the decision. One of the facts is distance and then you can apply the personal factors surrounding this to try prove that it's unreasonable...

Recommended Swimming Pools

Yes, I remember that brocure, that was at the beginning of the story, and of the Bullock administration. I think he's got more careful about communication now.
I also remember that the brochure mentioned that they were also trying to build a proper diving pool as part of the centre! Result of the effort is that the deep end goes from 3.8m of Ladywell to 2m of Loampit Vale.

But to be fair, the additional lane pool added to Deptford was not in that plan so a second pool has in fact been built. Somewhere else but maybe it's better that way. I'm all in favour of more smaller neighbourhood pools rather than a big centre people has to travel to get to.

Pie and Mash Films are a local film company known for their collection of gritty thought provoking British independent films and cutting edge documentaries.
They will be showing the award winning “Lunatic – Gangster Without a Gun” (awarded ‘Best International Feature’ at the New York International Film & Video Festival awards 25 June 2008.)
“Bill and Perry are a pair of entrepreneur chancers. The duo make a living out of a scam that allows them to collect rent from ex-council properties. But things aren’t as rosy as they seem and with an impending full moon, Bill and Perry are about to find out that anything can happen.”
Director (and Hither Green resident) Bill Maloney will be on hand to talk about Pie and Mash Films.

Disappointed customer of local builder

We would like to share our recent experience we had with a builder, J & D Berry, which we used to re-do the front part of the house including the painting of the main door. The job was started over a year ago by Damon Berry who for personal reasons could not complete it any sooner. Out of loyalty we chose to wait for him to come back and finish the job. However, our patience was not rewarded when we asked him to change the colour of the main door, which we chose from a Dulux sample that turned out to be the wrong colour. Completely out of the blue Damon Berry sent us a rude email after which we decided to pay him for the work he had done so far and find someone else to finish the job.
Overall the standard of work was acceptable with the exception of the main door which was painted in a quite amateurish way by his labourer but the way we have been treated was very disappointing.
Manners matter so I would not recommend J & D Berry

I am going to be a leetle harsh here.

Doing just under 40 miles each day on an 8 day cycle ride is not impressive. 8K going towards a project that will cost well over a few million pounds is not impressive.

I hope she has a lovely time cycling it..but thats about it.
